In Harmony - By Scott Fikse

The new year is upon us, and that means new possibilities abound. Among the numerous ideas and events I have planned for 2014, I once again invite any of you to approach me with your gifts and talents. I know we have many musicians and artists in our congregation and there are many opportunities to let your light shine and share what God has given you. I invite youth and adults alike to email me if you’re even a little bit interested in contributing to our music program in some way.

Meanwhile, we can all look forward to Katie Skovholt (soprano), Faith Ockwell (alto) and Jason Astrup (tenor) making a guest appearance on January 5th. Your very own music director will sing bass, and as a quartet we will present Alessandro Scarlatti’s Ad Te Domine. The piece is a rich setting of Renaissance polyphony with stunning harmonic changes and beautiful nuance. Our own choir will also be sharing a beautiful piece that Sunday by Norwegian composer Egil Hovland. We hope to see you in the pews for a special musical treat.

On Sunday January 14th, you will hear selections from the famous Antonio Vivaldi Gloria, a classic oratorio of epic proportions including the title movement Gloria and the solo Qui Sedes ad Dexteram.

We can’t wait!
