Youth Ministry by Rev. Katy Lloyd

Hi Folks! Katy here, waving to you all from the swing on the front porch. Got my lemonade and my big, wonderful novel, and I’m settling in for a lovely summer evening.

As I sit on the front porch and reflect on the year just passed, it fills me with joy
and gratitude. Our youth are truly growing up. Just ask Madi, our first high school graduate in a long time. Congratulations Madi! You are going places, and we who know you have been so blessed to watch you grow up, cheer you on, and walk beside you, as fellow pilgrims. You have a huge heart and we are glad for every Sunday you come to worship.

The rest of our youth are not far behind— which is why I feel so blessed to have been their Sunday School teacher for so long. It won’t be long before they all move on to college and new adventures. So for now I relish being their Youth Minister!

And, why I can’t let the summer go by without the opportunity to catch up, have fun, and share some outdoor adventures.

This month I will be getting in touch about a summer hike—hopefully a day that works for most if not all. This year, by popular demand, the hike will be less challenging than last year’s up in Snoqualmie Pass—but no less fun! We’ll do some more reflecting together on some scripture too, and sharing silence. That was a real highlight last summer.

We might also try a summer beach bonfire at Alki— maybe some marshmallows, guitar and songs to sing. Sounds fun, eh? Date TBD.

Mostly, I look forward to spending time together, and sharing our connection of faith and friendship during this most wonderful season.

Safe travels to all who are going places this summer! And for those of you sticking around, pour yourself another glass of lemonade and join me on the front porch. Grace and peace!
