First of all, let me just say a resounding thank you to you all because we exceeded our pledges again last month. Awesome! Plus, we are only a little more than $3000 short of our capital campaign pledges. Awesome again! Let’s keep this good news going, my friends, and pat your- selves on the back for a job well done so far.
Our full board was off in February, but teams are already up and running. The finance team met, which is where the good news came from. Our treasurer has been working like crazy getting our computers and printers set up, making sure we have the right software needed to do the various jobs. She recently attended a training for church treasurers and learned we were a model for best practices- thanks to Carl and M.L. before him for getting us on the right track. One of our dreams is to get to the point where we can share our knowledge with the rest of the churches in the region.
We’ve been gathering information on property management companies. We’ve gotten some good advice on what to look for and what to stay away from. Just the beginning stages, but a good start. After we get several initial bids, we can begin calling people in to talk more in depth about what they offer and what we need. Let me know if you have an interest in being a part of this team.
I want to thank those of you helping Kristin with our love offering of cookies and goodies for our contractors. This is an ongoing team so you can feel free to bake something ahead and get it to Kristin at any time. The guys really appreciate it and frankly, they’ll do a better job because of this small act of kindness.
The by-laws are getting a little overhaul in preparation for legally changing our name.
Some policies and procedures are being penned as well. Both of these will be reviewed by the board and brought before the congregation for a vote.
The team working on new member orientation hopes to put something together by Easter. If you have thoughts about that, contact Cheryl. Also if you love to plan parties, join the planning team for the open house in our new building. Again, contact Cheryl if you want to participate.
Our next full board meeting will be on March 9th at 6PM. Remember, you are always welcome to come.
On a personal note, I want to share the good news that I am applying for ordination into the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). After 15 years of serving people in crisis, I am answering yes to God’s call to serve others who aren’t always on the verge of losing their homes. I ask for your prayers on this part of my journey.
